Position Information
Our Nursing Program is actively seeking full-time (1.0 FTE) faculty for clinical and academic instruction. Primary responsibilities will be to develop, evaluate and teach nursing classes and interact with students in lecture, lab, clinical and small group settings.

• This is a fully benefited position. Additional positions may be recruited from this posting, based on student need. Lane reserves the right to update or change this information.
• Lane faculty nurses work 170 days per academic year and do not work on traditional holidays.

Required QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education

• Masters Degree in Nursing.
• Current Oregon License to practice as a Registered Nurse required

and

• Candidates must meet qualifications set forth by the Oregon State Board of Nursing Oregon Administrative Rules, Division 21.

Required Experience

• Three (3) years nursing experience.

Preferred QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Experience

• Candidates with strong clinical nursing knowledge and teaching experience preferred.
• Nursing experience in adult acute med/surg patient care.

Bilingual/Multicultural Statement:

Position Purpose:
To provide high quality instruction to nursing students in accordance with the Oregon Consortium for Nursing Education(OCNE), college and department mission, vision, values and strategic directions.

Essential Functions:

Leadership
* Contribute active leadership (plan, implement, and assess) toward Lane’s Strategic Directions.
• Establish good relationships with state, public and local agencies by conducting outreach and program marketing activities.
• Participate in College, Division, and program teams (e.g., committees, assigned projects) and in in-service activities.
Assist in the development, evaluation, and implementation of Divisional policies and procedures.
• Coordinate with other related educational programs within the State of Oregon and the college.
• Seek innovative and alternative methods to optimize a safe and effective teaching and learning environment.
• Mediate and communicate concerns between students, clinical faculty, center clinical coordinators, general public, and the college.
• Work independently and coordinate with multiple departmental program coordinators, faculty, and administrators.

Instructional/Curriculum

* Develop, evaluate and teach assigned nursing classes, using competency based, facilitated learning, and interact with students in lecture, lab, clinical, small group and distance learning settings.
• Establish, assess, and revise class objectives to meet the students’ educational needs, and program and divisional requirements.
• Utilize competency-based learning principles that focus on student outcomes reflected in assignments, testing criteria, teaching aids, and reference materials.
• Continually evaluate and assess student success through appropriate assessment tools/methods; actively utilize results to inform improvements at a program and course level
• Faculty with teaching duties are responsible for evaluating student achievement of clearly identified learning outcomes consistent with core ability outcomes; meeting accreditation requirements
• Evaluate and maintain records of student progress and provide necessary and appropriate feedback to students regarding their performance; ensure confidentiality.
• Interact with a variety of personnel at various clinical sites to ensure optimum clinical student learning experiences; represent appropriately college, department, division and community.
• Work one-on-one with a diverse population of students through office hours and in other settings to promote student centered learning and success.
• Recommend resources and referrals to students who may have difficulties in academic and personal areas.
• Operate Nursing laboratory and classroom instructional technology. Work closely with other faculty and staff to supervise the operation of the labs.
• Maintain required RN licensure; maintain current knowledge of nursing theory and practice; Participate in professional associations and ongoing continuing education activities; Establish and follow a professional growth plan and actively participate in college-sponsored professional growth activities.
• Actively participate in regional and national meetings.
• Adhere to and assist in the development and evaluation of Divisional policies and procedures, and the activities necessary to implement them.
• Participate in shared governance, decision making, and collaboration with peers and in Divisional, campus, or community projects.
• Observe and consult on issues related to nursing curriculum planning and related topics.
• Manage a classroom and teach using a Learning Management System (e.g. Moodle); effective classroom presentation and speaking skills.
• Perform other job related duties as assigned and described in the faculty contract.

Supervision Statement:
Position reports directly to the Associate Dean of Health Professions and is responsible to the overall direction from the Dean of Health Professions.

Physical Demands/Working Environment:
Coordinate fine and gross motor movements. Coordinate hand/eye movements. Maintain balance from any position. Negotiate level surfaces, ramps and stairs. Function with both hands free for performing psycho-motor tasks. Maneuver in small areas.

Attend to cognitive and psychometric tasks for more than two (2) hours a day; work on a computer for more than one (1) hour a day; ability to transport or lift up to twenty-five (25) lbs with assistance as needed; stand or sit for extended periods of time.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

• Must demonstrate an active concern for meeting the needs of students,staff, and the public.
• Effectively teach in classroom, lab and interactive online settings;
• Collaborate effectively with staff and other instructors; communicate effectively and respectfully with all students, staff, and community members;
• Assist students with disabilities or other special learning needs with course requirements and assist in provision of requested reasonable accommodations for those needs;
• Use computer applications for the purpose of communication and instruction; understand and carryout the college commitment to student success, lifelong learning, and educational opportunities;
• Remain current in Nursing theory and practice; manage multiple tasks including instruction, advising and coordination in a complex environment;
• Foster the personal, professional and intellectual growth of students; coordinate program-specific evaluation and accreditation, and work within fiscal parameters.

History

Lane was founded in 1964 by a vote of local citizens, and the main campus opened in 1968. The college was a successor to the Eugene Technical-Vocational School that was founded in 1938. Lane has received many awards and accolades for its innovative programs and high quality instruction. The college is a member of the League for Innovation in the Community College.
