We are currently seeking a Dean of Nursing Education for our Louisville, Kentucky nursing programs. The Dean will be responsible for the oversight and administration of the nursing programs within the institutions of The Sullivan University System and will function in the role of “Nurse Administrator” as stated in the Kentucky Board of Nursing regulations for the Associate of Applied Science Nursing Degree at Spencerian College. Functions of the position include the following:
· Ensures that the school is in compliance with the academic policies and standards of the Sullivan University System, the statutes and regulations of the Kentucky Board of Nursing, the principles of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) and the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS), the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education, the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), and any other agency which governs nursing programs, and ensures that accrediting and regulating agencies are properly consulted or notified of changes to academic programs.
· Evaluates the effectiveness of the nursing programs on an ongoing basis, maintains documentation of such evaluations, analyzes outcomes of evaluations with an examination of any needed updates or changes, and communicates essential information to the leadership of Sullivan University and the Sullivan University System.
· Recommends and coordinates the development of new nursing programs and program enhancements within the Sullivan University System, as well as any significant change to an existing nursing program.
· Has primary oversight for development and negotiation of contracts with clinical facilities.
· Coordinates/develops curriculum of any nursing program in cooperation with the respective faculty, the Associate Provost, the Academic Dean/CAO and Curriculum Committee.
· Responsible for managing the faculty and administrative support staff of the nursing programs, to include screening, appointing, retention, promotion, verification of credentials, evaluations, discipline and termination of faculty and staff.
· Coordinates activities of the Nursing Advisory Board.
· Periodically reviews syllabi and course outlines with Assistant Provost and Academic Dean/CAO and faculty to update as necessary.
· Works with the Associate Provost and Academic Dean/CAO for the examination and re-engineering of operations and procedures, formulating policy and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.
· Collaborates with Admissions by ensuring that recruitment materials provide accurate and complete information to prospective students about the programs.
· Communicates to the Associate Provost and Academic Dean/CAO concerning faculty, students, academic progress, and other operational activities in the Nursing Department.
· Participation in the preparation and management of the programs of nursing budget.
· Oversees the selection process of nursing program applications.
· Responsible for the academic schedule, taking into consideration the students’ needs, the requirements of the accrediting and regulatory bodies and faculty expertise.
· Coordinates program review visits and activities with accrediting and regulatory bodies.
· Provides general counseling to students in need
· Compiling and completing all required reports for accrediting and regulatory agencies.

The successful candidate will meet the following requirements:
· Minimum of Master’s Degree in nursing from an accredited university, with a terminal degree preferred.
· Minimum of 10 years of nursing experience, with at least 5 years of experience within the immediate past ten years, with demonstrated leadership experience.
· Minimum of 5 years of experience in teaching or education administration at the RN, Associate or the BSN levels or above (minimum of 2 years of teaching experience).
· Comprehensive knowledge of the Kentucky Board of Nursing and CCNA regulations and any other future nursing accreditation.
· Knowledge of sound human resources practices and procedures.
· Knowledge of Microsoft Office and other related programs and technology.
· Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.
· Ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written.
· Ability to work collaboratively with other team members and departments.
· Ability to manage time effectively, handle multiple priorities, and observe deadlines.
· Ability to work with minimal supervision.
· Ability to maintain confidentiality.
· Must be able to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
· Must be able to hear and speak well enough to communicate with students, faculty, and staff face-to-face and via the telephone
