Rio Hondo College is seeking to fill a Full-Time Academic Administrator Position.

Reporting directly to the Vice President of Academic Affairs, to provide leadership and direction; to manage, supervise, and coordinate the Health Science and Nursing programs and activities, including Associate Degree Nursing, Vocational Nursing, and Entry Level Nursing Program; to coordinate assigned activities with other District divisions, and outside agencies; develop additional delivery systems such as using evenings and week- ends, develop additional clinical placements and other hospital and health care partnerships, find expanded facilities, and pursue state, federal, and private funding.

QUALIFICATIONS and APPLICATION INFORMATION

Meets California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) and Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technician (BVNPT) requirements for Program Director:

1. A minimum of three years’ experience as a Registered Nurse (RN), including one year continuous full-time experience, or its equivalent experience, providing direct patient care as an RN. AND
2. Two years teaching experience as an instructor in a state accredited or approved registered nursing or vocational or practical nursing school, or psychiatric technician school, within the last five years. AND
3. A minimum of three years’ experience in nursing administration in a registered nursing program, which includes diploma, associate, baccalaureate, and post-licensure RN program within the last 5 years OR as a director of nursing and/or hospital in-service education program within the last 5 years. Nursing administrative experience is defined as having experience as 1) a director or assistant director whose responsibility and accountability includes coordinating, directing, fiscal planning, and all activities involved in developing, implementing, and managing a registered nursing education program, which includes diploma, associate, baccalaureate and post-licensure RN programs, OR 2) a director of nursing and/or hospital in-service education program.
OR The Equivalent.

The Equivalency is: Minimum 1 year full-time in a pre- or post-licensure BRN approved program, as a Director or Assistant Director AND 1) previous BVNPT approval as a Director or Assistant Director OR 2) willingness to remediate to achieve BVNPT approval.

Master’s degree or higher degree in nursing, education or administration, from an accredited college or university.
