Title: Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (Part Time 20 hours)

Program Description:
The Borden Avenue Veterans Residence (BAVR), funded by the New York City Department of Homeless Services (DHS) is a short-term housing program for veterans in Long Island City, New York. BAVR accommodates 243 veterans (216 male veterans and 27 female veterans). Veterans at the BAVR have case management services that include assistance accessing supportive housing and other appropriate permanent housing placement assistance. BAVR also has on-site medical and psychiatric services. ICL works closely with DHS and the Veteran’s Administration to provide coordinated and comprehensive services to homeless veterans residing at BAVR.

Job Summary:
As a member of a multidisciplinary treatment team, provides advanced clinical psychiatric nursing care to referred clients. Collaborates with Psychiatrist to provide psychiatric evaluation, medication review and on-going treatment for clients. Ensures accuracy of diagnosis and appropriate pharmacologic interventions, and support appropriate multidisciplinary interventions. Provides leadership within team to recommend program placement and coordinate interim treatment planning.

Minimum Requirements:
Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited nurse practitioner program, and currently licensed in New York State as a psychiatric nurse practitioner. Current DEA certification. ANCC certification is an asset. Two years’ experience with persons with co-occurring health/mental illness and HIV/AIDS preferred. May be required to possess a valid NYS driving license and a clear driving record. Continued employment is based on the ability to maintain professional licensure and accreditation.
