The Director of Nursing ensures youth in Orchard Place's Psychiatric Medical Institute for Children (PMIC) experience improved physical and behavioral health outcomes through providing high quality direct nursing care, supervision of nursing staff, coordination of care, youth and family teaching and empowerment, training of professional and unit staff and participating as an active member of the PMIC management team.

Position is located in Des Moines.

The Director of Nursing:

• Provides high quality direct client care within scope of nursing license and facility license.

• Oversees medical services, medication administration, laboratory services and pharmacy needs for all residents.

• Reviews health needs of residents and assists in development and implementation of individual plans to address those specific needs.

• Provides direct management of the nursing staff including scheduling, individual supervision, performance appraisals, orientation, on-boarding and training.

• Identifies overall nursing staffing needs and, along with the PMIC VP, develops strategies to support those needs.

• Meets relevant Joint Commission and licensure standards through compliance audits, serving on various committees and quality improvement processes.

Position Requires:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing and licensed in Iowa as a Registered Nurse.

• Experience working with pediatrics and psychiatric populations.

• Previous supervisory experience.

• Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Criminal and Abuse Registry checks completed. Must have valid driver's license.
