Mission Homefront: Translating Research into Practice in Veterans Healthcare

In keeping with its commitment to improving veterans healthcare, Jonas Philanthropies has announced its first-ever virtual conference: Mission Homefront: Translating Research into Practice in Veterans Healthcare.

Taking place October 16, 2020, this free and open to the public day-long symposium hosted by Jonas Philanthropies’ signature program, Jonas Nursing & Veterans Healthcare, will digitally unite leading experts in medical, psychological, and environmental care, along with clinicians, influential educators, and Jonas Scholars to arm private sector healthcare professionals with the tools and knowledge needed to best care for veterans.

“The passing of last year’s MISSION Act, which expanded veteran provider options beyond VA facilities and into the private sector, truly changed our country’s approach to veteran healthcare. This conference will delve into the latest research and practice to help close the learning gap for nurses serving the veteran population, and help private medical care offices provide workforce development for their clinical nursing team who will be seeing veterans in their care,” said John Jonas, Vice President, Jonas Philanthropies.

“Veterans have unique health needs spanning psychological and physical trauma, permanent injuries, and the effects of environmental exposure. As they begin to look to the private sector for care, it is now more important than ever that healthcare professionals understand the different approaches required to best screen for conditions and treat veterans, and Jonas Nursing & Veterans Healthcare is committed to leading the way,” said Stephen Ferrara, DNP, FNP-BC, FAANP, Jonas Nursing and Veterans Healthcare Interim Executive Director and Columbia School of Nursing Associate Dean.
