RA Capital COVID Team has created a map that captures many of the major ongoing technology development efforts in the world to solve our COVID-19 crisis

The RA Capital COVID Team with Boston-based Dr. Peter Kolchinsky, author of The Great American Drug Deal, PhD in Virology from Harvard University, have created a map that captures many of the major ongoing technology development efforts in the world to solve our COVID-19 crisis.

Peter’s insights are making global headlines about how today the world is depending upon the pharmaceutical industry to not only save lives, but economies around the world.

The goals of this new map are to not only lay out the competitive landscape of a given space, but to also reveal strategic insights that emerge when looking at the space in its totality. Historically, such technology landscape maps of cancer, auto-immune disorders, diabetes, and other diseases have guided our own investment of time and money into what we believed to be the most important projects. We hope that this map will be of use to BARDA, CEPI, and other grant-giving organizations as they consider the best uses of their resources, and we are making it available to the global community in the hopes that it allows leaders to formulate strategies to make the most of all the ongoing work.

Peter Kolchinsky, PhD is a founder and Managing Partner at RA Capital Management, where he works with a large team of fellow scientists and investment professionals to start and provide funding for companies developing novel drugs, medical devices, and diagnostics. He serves as a Director of a number of public and private companies. Dr. Kolchinsky also leads the firm’s outreach and publishing efforts, which aim to make a positive social impact and spark collaboration among healthcare stakeholders, including patients, physicians, researchers, policy makers, and industry.

He authored “The Entrepreneur’s Guide to a Biotech Startup”, has written on the biotech social contract, and served on the Board of Global Science and Technology for the National Academy of Sciences, which explored how the United States could remain a leader in innovation across many technology landscape. Dr. Kolchinsky holds a BA from Cornell University and a PhD in Virology from Harvard University. You can connect with Peter on LinkedIn.
