New Podcast: Source of Innovation in Health in Year of the Nurse 2020

Johnson & Johnson and the American Nurses Association launched SEE YOU NOW, an inspiring storytelling podcast that highlights innovative and human-centered solutions driven by nurses addressing today's most challenging healthcare problems. SEE YOU NOW will unpack the personal motivations of each guest and explore how their experiences ultimately sparked action to address some of the many complex healthcare challenges that exist today. SEE YOU NOW launches as part of the global recognition and call to action of the World Health Organization’s International Year of the Nurse and Midwife in 2020 and will bring greater visibility to nurses as innovators, leaders and catalysts in improving human health.

Health systems across the world are strained by ever increasing demands and in need of innovation from all corners. On a daily basis, the public trusts nurses to work with billions of dollars of technology, devices, pharmaceuticals, data and human lives. Despite being the most trusted profession, nurses’ potential to improve health outcomes and lead system change is often underestimated and their expertise underutilized. Nurses are discovering the gaps in care and driving solutions, often under the radar, in every care setting they work in; addressing the unmet needs of individuals and communities, leading hospital systems, advancing health technology, and shaping health and human services policy.

“Nurses combine hands-on patient experience, resourcefulness and innate innovative mindsets that need to be broadly recognized, elevated and celebrated,” said Lynda Benton, Senior Director of Corporate Equity, Johnson & Johnson. “SEE YOU NOW aims to bring insights gained by nurses through direct patient care and across all aspects of the healthcare system to a broader audience, sparking ideas for future innovations in listeners wherever they may be in their careers and around the world.”

SEE YOU NOW invites listeners to see nurses as they may never have before – as leaders, innovators and entrepreneurs with the power to improve lives and strengthen health systems. Hosted by nurse economist and tech enthusiast, Shawna Butler, SEE YOU NOW gives listeners direct access to meaningful conversations with nurses at the forefront of healthcare and innovation – those developing new devices, processes, protocols and ways to address maternal mortality, infectious disease, anxiety, grief, diabetes, allergies and so much more – and will empower anyone with an innovative idea for health with the inspiration to see it through.

“Nurses are actively creating new solutions to redesign care delivery to meet the emerging needs of people and communities across the health care continuum,” said American Nurses Association Vice President of Innovation Oriana Beaudet, DNP, RN, PHN. “SEE YOU NOW acknowledges nurses’ rich history of impacting change and showcases the indisputable impact of the nursing profession on the world we live in.”

SEE YOU NOW is available for download on Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, Spotify and wherever you listen to podcasts. For more information, visit SeeYouNowPodcast.com and follow the social conversation at #SeeYouNow.
