Description


 


The Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Stony Brook Children's Hospital and the Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University is seeking full time Board Certified/Board Eligible Pediatric Emergency Medicine physicians at the Assistant or Associate Professor levels, to join our growing, diverse, and talented team. Candidates must possess or be eligible for New York State licensure.


 


The pediatric emergency department experienced over 26.5K visits in 2022 as we serve a growing and diverse population of over 1.5 million residents of Suffolk County. Currently, our team is composed of 9 board certified pediatric emergency medicine specialists, 1 pediatrician, and 3 pediatric nurse practitioners who provide 24/7 coverage while supervising trainees in pediatrics, medicine/pediatrics, and emergency medicine residency programs, and medical students.


 


This is truly an exciting time to join as we are on the cusp of integrating a new pediatric emergency medicine fellowship. In addition to involvement in different aspects of education, the interests of current PEM faculty include quality assurance, quality improvement, clinical operations, point of care ultrasound, simulation, trauma, research, asthma care, and advocacy.


 


Stony Brook University hospital is the only ACS verified level 1 adult and pediatric trauma center in the region as well as home to the regional burn center, regional EMS medical control center, and has a robust comprehensive psychiatric evaluation program (CPEP) which provides emergency and urgent care to children and adults in a specialized unit.


 


The clinical services of Stony Brook Children's serve the nearly 500,000 children of Suffolk County, NY, and boast the following resources:


 


• A 10-bed Med-Surg PICU featuring large individual rooms, a bariatric room, and capacity for 2 additional step-down beds.


• 105 Pediatric faculty covering all Pediatric Sub-specialties including Adolescent Medicine, Allergy/Immunology, Cardiology, Child Abuse and Advocacy, Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics, Emergency Medicine, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Genetics, Hematology/Oncology, Hospital Medicine, Infectious Disease, Neonatology, Nephrology, Neurology, Pulmonology, and Rheumatology.


• Pediatric Surgical Specialists in General Surgery, ENT, Neurosurgery, Urology, Ophthalmology, Dentistry, and Trauma as well as additional expertise in Pediatric Radiology, Interventional Radiology, Vascular Surgery, and Oral-maxillofacial Surgery, and Renal Transplantation.


• Residency training programs Pediatrics, Med/Peds, Child Neurology and selected subspecialty fellowships.


• Rich research resources for laboratory, translational, or clinical research exist within the 20 clinical departments of the Medical School and the larger University. Competitive seed money support within the Department exists for junior investigators or mid-career investigators pursuing new directions.

The successful candidate will possess an MD/DO degree, Board Certification in Pediatrics, and be Board Eligible or Board Certified in Pediatric Emergency Medicine. Candidates must have a commitment to collaborative clinical care, education, patient safety, and career development. Preference will be given to candidates possessing administrative experience, experience in graduate teaching, research and who demonstrate a commitment to medical advancement through research or significant scholarship. Administrative experience; Experience with graduate teaching; Research experience and a commitment to medical advancement through research or significant scholarship.
