RN Nurse Manager needed for residential program serving adults suffering with significant mental health challenges in addition to multiple medical issues.
Be part of a multidisciplinary team assuring the highest level of care for this vulnerable population.
1. Supervises team of Licensed Practical Nurses who provide 24-hour medical oversight for up to twenty-six residents at three sites, including
2. Maintains contact with medical professionals, including primary care providers, specialists and psychiatrists, to assure that all residents have their individual medical and psychiatric needs met
3. Serves as sounding board for LPNs and decision-maker in complicated situations involving medication, wound assessment, medical assessments and continuity of care
4. Advocates for residents in obtaining medical care, medication and insurance benefits
5. With director, trains staff and serves as role model for assuring a trauma-informed environment that meets the needs of individuals suffering from serious and persistent mental illness
6. In the absence of on-duty LPN, provides medication monitoring and nursing care including, but not limited to, wound care, trach care, diabetic counseling, etc.
7. Involved with cook and food service to assure that meals meet medical requirements of individual residents
8. Provides training to all staff on topics including Naloxone, diabetes, universal precautions and other medical subjects
9. Using a trauma-informed and recovery-oriented approach, teams with other staff to de-escalate and re-direct residents as needed
10. Maintains confidentiality, including keeping voice low and not talking about residents in public areas
11. Attends all required staff meetings and training sessions
12. Maintains professional boundaries at all times
13. Abides by all policies and procedures of unit
14. Maintains respectful and trauma-informed interactions with all residents, staff, family members and visitors at all times
15. Other job related duties as assigned
Job Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:
• Registered Nurse with current license
• Minimum of four (4) years of experience in behavioral health
• Minimum of two (2) years medical/surgical experience
• A valid driver’s license is required
• Ability to understand and function within a trauma-informed environment
