SUMMARY: The Certified Medical Assistants’ primary duties include assisting the Center’s physicians, mid-level providers, and nurses in the provision of patient care as well as providing non-clinical support for the clinic. The CMA facilitates the flow of patient information across the continuum of care. The CMA prioritizes multiple requests from patients, staff and physicians. The CMA performs a variety of other department specific tasks to ensure optimal department safety and functioning. PRIMARY DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
1. Obtains weight, height, and vital signs and other clinical information in a precise and professional manner.
2. Prepares patients for providers and assists providers with patient examinations and treatments.
3. Demonstrates competency in performing waived testing, EKG’s pulse oximetry, peak flows, nebulizer treatment, hearing and eye testing including the Lang Stereo test.
4. Assists in the maintenance of the supply inventory and stocking of patient care areas.
5. Provides non-clinical support for the Center such as scheduling patient referrals, tests, and procedures, enter specimens and other assigned duties in accordance with established MedNorth policies and procedures. 6. Organizes and performs work effectively and efficiently.
7. Maintains and adjusts schedule to enhance team performance.
8. Demonstrates a daily commitment to the values and performance standards of the department and organization.
9. Administers medication ordered by provider.
10. Dispense injectable medications correctly without waste.
11. Correctly administers injections i.e., site, dosage, needle gauge, syringe, IM, SQ and intradermal.
12. Performs other related duties incidental to work described herein. Corporate Compliance: It is an essential job element that everyone be compliant with the full law and fully cooperate with the compliance program without fear of retaliations from the organization

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skills, and/or ability desired: EDUCATION: • High School Diploma or GED • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program. • CMA certification at hire or within 90 days of start date
EXPERIENCE: At least one year of clinical experience in an ambulatory and/or secondary health care facility. CPR AND AED Certified
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to speak English fluently. The ability to speak other languages is a plus.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS: Certified Medical Assistant Certification

Inside a multi-cultural medical/dental clinic, which delivers comprehensive health care services, including HIV/AIDS treatment to the disadvantaged poor and underserved. The building is heated in winter and air conditioned in the summer with noise levels of moderate to loud. Children crying and screaming. Loud talking patients. Patients speaking multiple languages at the same time. Loud speaker and/or paging. This job is a Blood borne Pathogens risk category I position.

NOTE: This job description may be changed only with the approval of the Chief Executive Officer, however it should be reviewed at least annually between the employee and the supervisor of the position.
