Job Description Summary


Selected applicants will be interviewed to establish a pool of approved LVN instructors for possible part-time clinical teaching assignments in the Nursing & Allied Health Division. Teaching opportunities include medical-surgical clinical, long-term care clinical, and skills lab setting. Assigned days dependent upon teaching opportunity and scheduled between Monday and Saturday.

Essential Functions & Qualifications


 


Required:


 


-Bachelor's degree and two years of work experience in a nursing field or an Associate's degree and six years of work experience in a nursing field;


 


AND


 


-Current California Registered Nurse license or Licensed Vocational Nursing license;


 


AND


 


-2 years of work experience as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse within the previous 5 years, providing direct patient care in a related field;


 


OR


 


-Teaching experience in a school of nursing as approved by the Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians (BVNPT);


 


OR


 


-The equivalent. (Candidates making application on the basis of equivalency must submit all materials requested for an equivalency judgment. For directions on what is an acceptable equivalency argument please review the requirements listed on the following link:

-A valid Community College credential in the discipline (If received prior to 1990, as the credential is no longer being issued).


 


Required:


-Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.


 


Desirable:


-Teaching experience in the discipline, community college level preferred;


-Awareness of the philosophy and objectives of California Community Colleges.
