Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
– Contract Assignment

Seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to provide services to special needs children ages 2 years, 9 months to 5 years at the Joan Fenichel Therapeutic Nursery. This is a temporary. Duration of contract assignment: 6 months. The COTA will work under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist. COTA will evaluate and provide therapy services to children with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Responsibilities and Duties, included but not limited to:

 Implement the therapeutic program prescribed by the occupational therapist; provides routine occupational therapy care to students; maintain proper documentation of evaluation, treatment sessions and progress of children; carries out observations and assists OT in administering formal evaluations; maintain communication with family members; collaborates with all disciplines to provide best patient centered treatment and care; and constructs adaptive equipment, self-help devices as recommended by OT.

Principal Qualifications:

 Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution; experience with students with special needs preferred; limited permit to work under a NYS Licensed Occupational Therapist; 1 – 2 years’ experience

The League Education and Treatment Center is a non-profit agency dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with psychiatric and developmental disabilities. Each day, we serve over 500 at-risk and underserved children and adults from all parts of the greater New York City area.
