Supervisor: Director of Clinical Services

Supervisory Responsibilities: MRI Technologists, MRI Researchers, X-ray Technicians, and MRI Receptionists

General Summary of Duties: This position is responsible for the efficient operation of Radiology Services across the organization and ensures that all policies and protocols pertaining to patient safety are followed, as well as overseeing the daily operations of the departments.

Major Responsibilities/Tasks:

1. Provides MRI services by directing and coordinating the services of MRI imaging procedures; overseeing staff in operation of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) equipment.

2. Accomplishes Radiology departmental human resources objectives by selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising job contributions; recommending compensation actions; adhering to OOA policies and procedures.

3. Meets Radiology department operational standards by contributing information to strategic plans and reviews; implementing production, productivity, quality, and patient-service standards; resolving problems; identifying system improvements.

4. Meets Radiology financial standards by providing annual budget information; monitoring expenditures; identifying variances; recommending corrective actions.

5. Supports patient care by resolving Radiology issues with physicians, radiologists, MRI and X-ray technologists, and ancillary staff; improving and maintaining quality assurance program for department functions.

6. Oversees accreditation and licensure renewals for MRI and X-ray departments.

7. Improves quality results by evaluating accuracy and quality of images; providing technical assistance; implementing new techniques, equipment, and procedures.

8. Provides statistical reports by controlling the collection of treatment and clinical data.

9. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

10. Expectation is to perform imaging studies as well as fill in for staff that is out ill or on vacation.

11. Compliance with HIPAA and OSHA Standards.

Education: High School diploma or equivalent. Associates or Bachelor’s degree is required. A graduate of an ARRT accredited school or registry eligible or ARMRIT board certified. Training specific to the operation of MRI scanners and performing MRI scans.

Experience: Two years of previous management experience and a minimum of 1 year active scanning experience. All licenses and CE’s must be current.

• A working knowledge of Anatomy and terminology required.
• Knowledge of parameters and sequences to provide a quality diagnostic image/exam.
• Knowledge of organizational policies, procedures, and systems.

Equipment Operated: Various types of MRI scanners and office equipment including computer hardware and software.

Mental/Physical Requirements:

1. Ability to sit for long periods of time.

2. Ability to lift and position patients.

Work Environment: Well-lit and ventilated, pleasant office environment.
