Bell’s Palsy Draft Practice Guideline Posted for Public Comment

PAs and the public are invited to comment on a draft clinical practice guideline on Bell’s palsy. Recently posted by the American Academy of Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery (AAO-HNS), “Clinical Practice Guideline: Bell’s Palsy” is intended for all clinicians in any setting who are likely to diagnose and manage adult or pediatric patients with Bell’s palsy.
PA Debra Munsell represents AAPA on the panel AAO-HNS convened to develop the guideline. Munsell has more than 20 years of experience in otolaryngology. Currently, she is associate professor, interdisciplinary human studies, and physician assistant program director for the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans. She is a long-time member of AAO-HNS and from 2001-2009 served as AAPA’s appointed liaison to AAO-HNS. She also has been active in AAPA leadership at the national and state levels and in PA specialty organizations.
