The Association of Occupational Health Professionals in Healthcare (AOHP) is pleased to announce the signing of a new Service Agreement with the Infection Control Support Association of Japan (JICSA) to support the training of occupational health professionals on a global scale. Through this international partnership, AOHP has provided its well respected resource manual Getting Started: Occupational Health in the Healthcare Setting to JICSA to be translated into Japanese. The translated manual will then be printed and distributed to occupational health professionals in Japan as a valuable resource for training and education. AOHP, a national association with nearly 1,000 members, is the defining resource and leading advocate for occupational health and safety in healthcare. Getting Started provides an overview of the essential information that new occupational health professionals use to build a foundation for the provision of occupational health services for healthcare personnel and also serves as a valuable reference for experienced occupational health professionals who are embarking on new projects or seeking the most up-to-date information available. “Getting Started is an excellent resource for occupational health professionals, and we are excited and honored to be able to offer this information to our fellow occupational health professionals in Japan,” says AOHP Executive President Dee Tyler, RN COHN-S FAAOHN. The AOHP/JICSA partnership began in the fall of 2010 when JICSA founder and new AOHP member Eiji Doi attended the AOHP Annual National Conference in Boston, MA, and was introduced to Getting Started. Doi-san— a registered nurse with experience in infection control who speaks internationally to promote the benefits of developing the role of occupational health in hospitals throughout Japan—recognized that Getting Started would be a valuable resource for professionals in his country. |
